I offer one level of personal coaching. I have experimented with numerous methods and have found that the best results come from a hands-on approach that allows me to work closely with each individual athlete. I do not believe in a “do as I say” coaching philosophy and instead think of coaching as a partnership.

Through two-way communication, I am able to listen to the needs of the athlete and the athlete is able to share not only their hard data like heart rate and power files, but their sensation and perspective on how they feel they are adapting to the work. In this way, I am able to personalize the training to adapt to each individual's ever-changing fitness and daily life. The best training happens when the athlete is confident, focused, and has clear direction.

My education began with fighting it out in the gutter in Belgium and continued with a pro career spanning 15 years and traveling the world racing in the sport’s biggest races against cycling’s biggest names. Since my retirement from racing, I have used this experience to create and perfect Train Louder. I have since had the honor of successfully passing on my knowledge and understanding to hundreds of aspiring and enthusiastic athletes of every ability.

➤ DAILY PERSONALIZED WORKOUTS

I strive to make the work varied and fun while accomplishing specific fitness objectives. I work on a rolling, weekly schedule in order to be certain the planned work is tailored to keep fitness tracking on an upward trajectory. 

The aim is to create work that fits the specific needs of the individual. Training plans are designed to work in your environment and on your roads. I work to assign objectives that will best utilize the roads and trails in your region while adapting the plan around the weather. For example: In winter, I can provide options for riding the trainer when the weather doesn’t allow for outside riding. These are fun and diverting workouts built within Training Peaks’ workout builder that can be specifically utilized on smart trainers with supported apps such as Zwift and Trainer Road.

Training Peaks is used as the main point of interface for daily training. This is where you will find a calendar with the planned workouts, keep a training diary, download training files, and track performance metrics.

Life is hectic and a good plan is only as good as what you can accomplish. Life can and will get in the way and I do my best to adapt the work and help guide decisions in real time when necessary. I am available to my athletes to make quick adjustments (via text) and to answer less pressing questions such as:  training, race tactics, nutrition, work/life balance and long-term planning (via email). I am also available to talk on the phone (with notice) when a little more nuance is needed. I aim to reply quickly and keep you on track.
